Gillian Fairley (she/her)
General Manager, Community Futures South Georgian Bay.

Gillian is the General Manager of Community Futures South Georgian Bay, a federally funded not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing and growing businesses in the region.

Gillian has assisted businesses in the community for over 15 years, providing mentoring, resources, and advice during all phases of business start-up, development, and growth.

She has also participated in numerous economic development initiatives that have supported community and business growth. Gillian has extensive experience in project management, economic development, and management consulting. She has worked with organizations throughout the United States, as well as in the U.K., Germany, and Sweden.

She is passionate about supporting small businesses and community development.

For over two decades, her tenure at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) has empowered her to support Canadian-owned companies with financing and advisory services, fostering their growth strategies.

A graduate of McMaster University, Dawn has furthered her expertise by serving on national committees including Women’s President Organization and as a Board Member of The Blue Mountain Chamber of Commerce.

Amanda Kelly (she/her)
Co-Founder, AWAKE

Amanda Kelly is the Co-Founder of AWAKE, where she leads research and development on Ashes to Earth cremation memorials for cemeteries and funeral homes. After five back-to-back losses, Amanda set out to give her loved ones a final, positive footprint on the earth.

Partnering with scientists, she developed Canada’s first patented soil-science compost that transforms cremated remains into living memorials. With a Master’s in Information Science and a background in Technology & Culture, Amanda previously led municipal innovation programs across Ontario.

When not touring cemeteries or studying end-of-life practices, she’s hiking, biking, or curled up with her dogs and a good mystery.

Jennifer is a sheep farmer, circular-economy innovator, and the founder of EcoWool Canada.

Rooted in her love for land, animals, and community,

Jennifer has made it her mission to turn “unwanted” fibres into unexpected climate solutions. She sparked Canada’s first Fibreshed movement, reconnecting people with regenerative, local textile systems. She later teamed up with a California-based environmental group to transform human and pet hair into mats that clean up oil spills and enrich soil — proving that nothing is truly waste if you know how to work with nature.

Through EcoWool Canada, she continues to create practical, planet-positive uses for discarded wool, including her award-winning Inswoolation packaging.

Jennifer’s work shows how small fibres can spark big environmental shifts.

Kristine Caroline is a CPA, CA and partner at Caroline & Aschaber LLP, specializing in work with agriculture clients, professional corporations, and owner-managed businesses across Ontario. She spent more than a decade with a national accounting firm and has built 15 years of experience in public practice. Kristine also teaches for CPA Ontario and CPA Canada, supporting students through advanced courses and national examinations.

Her perspective is shaped by representing Canada on a junior national equestrian team and participating in international medical and dental mission trips. Outside of work, she’s at the barn with her daughter or at the rink supporting her kids as they develop their hockey skills.
